Staff Reflections - Renu
Position : Day Care Practitioner
Languages: English, Dutch
Length of Time at Zein: Since August 2014
The first time I came in contact with Zein was when I happened to meet and talk to teachers from the After School Care. In talking to them I found that I really loved the approach to the children they were describing and it made me curious about how Zein works. I read up and found out more about the philosophy of Zein and their way of working with children and I immediately decided to apply for a position. It’s such a great opportunity to work with people and children with different nationalities. With all the different cultures we learn so much from each other.
For me, Zein stands out because of the focus we give on making sure that every child feels safe and experiences a truly home like environment even though many of them are far away from their home country. I really value the way we are able to guide a child to make positive choices, with help from Robbie Zein's Choices System.
Through the Zein Academy Training Programme provided by Zein, I have learned much more about their philosophy and how to really practice this in the room with the children.
It’s wonderful to see the children smile when they achieve something, even if it’s a drawing or putting on their own jacket! When I see how a child can grow in just 2 years or when a child is going to school it makes me feel truly proud to be a teacher. It’s amazing that we can be a part of these children’s lives and help them get ready for the next big step in their life.
