Staff Reflections - Mollynn

Position :  Pedagogic Advisor
Nationality: Ugandan
Languages: English, Dutch, Swahili
Length of Time at Zein: Since December 2007

When I applied to work at Zein in May 2007, it was purely for the fun of spending time with children and earning a little pocket money as I finished my Masters Studies, and found my footing around the Netherlands. The children in the Zein holiday camps fliers looked so happy and I definitely wanted to be a part of it.

I was coming from a background of working in obstetrics and paediatrics in Uganda. Zein has given me the perfect environment to share my passion with children of international families. Being an expat spouse myself, working in such a multicultural environment has widened my view of life; given me a deep sense of understanding of what it means to be a global citizen.

The flexibility that comes with working with a fast growing company has given me the perfect opportunity to widely expand my skills in many areas of my life, skills that I have come to apply in all areas of my life. This flexibility has also enabled me to gain skills in the different departments at Zein. The regular Zein Academy trainings have definitely helped me grow and understand deeper the nature and need for the service we provide.

My two children were cared for at Zein - both in Day Care and now in After School Care. Zein Childcare easily becomes a home, we feel very much like one multicultural family bringing different skills to the table to form a happy place.

The icing on the cake for me is definitely the children. I get up every morning and go to work with great expectation of the fun that awaits me, and I go to bed at the end of the day sometimes replaying the funny scenes of the day flashing through my mind. We laugh, we celebrate milestones, and sometimes we cry when they have to leave and move on to the next phase or the next country. My joy comes in knowing that at the end of the day I make a real difference in their lives. I will continue to enjoy serving expat families as Zein grows and expands.
