Supporting the Zein Community at Home
During the temporary closure of all services due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Zein developed a programme to enable all of the Zein community to continue exploring, learning and having fun from the comfort and safety of their own home.
Each week, Zein has shared Zein at Home Activity Guides designed specifically for Out of School Care, Day Care and Pre-School children to enjoy. All of the guides are based on the programme our teachers follow at Zein, adapted to be appropriate for individual children to complete at home. To complement the Activity Guides, the Early Years teachers of each individual group filmed weekly Circle Time videos to share stories, sing songs, read books, enjoy musical activities and so much more with the children of their own group while the Out of School Care teachers shared happy greetings in video format.
The Pre School and Day Care Activity Guides activities link to the monthly theme, which have primarily revolved around Spring. Each week, children learn the Book of the Week and sing a Song of the Week that explores the weekly theme. Recent themes have been Spring Plants & Flowers, and Bugs & Insects. We also learn about numbers, colours & shapes, as well as spending time on crafts and age-appropriate physical and outdoor exploration activities.
The Out of School Care Activity Guides contain fun activities, covering different topics for children to choose from according to their interests including, science, arts and crafts, recreational games, cooking and baking. Highlights have been making terrariums, making Chef Ilse’s chicken coconut curry and learning to play lawn bowls.
The Zein at Home guides follow Zein’s guiding principles and aims to help children feel positive about themselves, their abilities and the people around them.
