This week we celebrated King’s Day - a national holiday in celebration of the birthday of the King - at a number of our childcare locations. In line with the tradition of this holiday, the children dressed in orange and enjoyed a range of activities with a Dutch theme.

Every year between April and June the parents of our Day Care children are invited to come in for an Annual Child Progress Meeting. These meetings provide our group leaders with the perfect opportunity to further share Zein's unique pedagogic approach.

This morning we were delighted to welcome the admissions staff from The British School in The Netherlands, The American School of The Hague, de Haagsche Schoolvereeninging and The American International School of Rotterdam!
Following a tour of The Estate location by Founding Directors Jan van der Meijden and Robbie Zein, we sat down for a lovely lunch where we shared with them the latest updates on this summer's camp programme!
As another holiday period comes to an end, we look back on two action-packed weeks of holiday camps. In line with the theme of ‘Construction’, activities included making art constructions, fort crafts, wood art painting and much more... In addition, we also went on field trips to the Gemeente Museum for the 'Karel Appel exhibition and workshop', Planet Jump - a huge trampoline hall - and Villa Zebra, a unique children's museum and art laboratory!

This morning we tested our staff’s readiness to respond quickly and effectively in case of an emergency situation by organising a fire drill.
As part of the Zein protocol we plan multiple emergency evacuation exercises per location, per year. Some of these exercises are purposely announced in advance so that the teachers can discuss the exercise ahead of time with the children in circle times and other activity periods to reduce child anxiety - and some are a surprise.

During the February break we ran Multi-Activity & Sports Camps at five different locations in The Hague. The programme put together by our staff allowed the children to choose the type of activity they wanted to do – offering them the chance to try something new and exciting every day!

It was a very special day at Robbie’s Place Day Care as two real firemen visited the location to provide the children with a practical demonstration on the important role the fire department plays in the community.
