Lovely round of Parents' Evenings at The Estate and The Willows Day Care locations this week. Talking and engaging with parents and giving them the opportunity to learn more about the Zein pedagogic programme that their children follow each day... The evening included a video covering the highlights of the past couple months and the teachers had set up a whole range of activities available to the children in our care.

Over the past few weeks, our day care and pre-school teachers have started to gradually prepare the children in our care for their move to ‘the big school’. One of the activities assisting our staff in ensuring that the children are positive and enthusiastic about going to school after the summer is a visit to the Foundation 1 classes of the British School in The Netherlands. Bambox construction is a firm favorite at Zein!At Zein’s ‘Do-It-Yourself Camp’ campers were challenged to use their imagination and skills to create a range of truly unique items! With a wide range of activities on offer, this camp was all about exploring the creative process and having a go! Every day the children will enjoy special workshop activities relating to construction, arts; crafts, theatre and even cooking and baking. During a recent sunny day some of our after school care children put the sun to good use by using its beams to burn their name into a piece of wood with the help of a magnifying glass. Following a short introduction on lenses, sunbeams and the dangers of heating the children concentrated really hard to finish their project by pick-up time. Some children took a maginfying glass home with them to show their parents their newly learnt skill and practice some more over the weekend!

This week we celebrated King’s Day - a national holiday in celebration of the birthday of the King - at a number of our childcare locations. In line with the tradition of this holiday, the children dressed in orange and enjoyed a range of activities with a Dutch theme. Every year between April and June the parents of our Day Care children are invited to come in for an Annual Child Progress Meeting. These meetings provide our group leaders with the perfect opportunity to further share Zein's unique pedagogic approach. During the meeting, the cognitive, physical, social-emotional and creative milestones achieved by their child are discussed and reviewed. This morning we were delighted to welcome the admissions staff from The British School in The Netherlands, The American School of The Hague, de Haagsche Schoolvereeninging and The American International School of Rotterdam! Following a tour of The Estate location by Founding Directors Jan van der Meijden and Robbie Zein, we sat down for a lovely lunch where we shared with them the latest updates on this summer's camp programme!

As another holiday period comes to an end, we look back on two action-packed weeks of holiday camps. In line with the theme of ‘Construction’, activities included making art constructions, fort crafts, wood art painting and much more... In addition, we also went on field trips to the Gemeente Museum for the 'Karel Appel exhibition and workshop', Planet Jump - a huge trampoline hall - and Villa Zebra, a unique children's museum and art laboratory!
