WINTER HOLIDAY CAMPS 2017-18!

In line with the season, we will be running Winter Themed Activity Day Camps during the holidays of all key international and Dutch schools in The Hague. There will be a full and varied programme of exciting activity workshops for your child to choose from throughout the holiday, so they’ll be able to try something new and different every day! The themed workshop activities of the day will be complemented by a range of (outdoor & indoor) sports and recreational games - all arranged by age group to ensure campers of all ages will have great fun and learn new skills...

>  1st week: Multi-Activity Winter Fiesta!
>  2nd Week: Snow & Science!

For children aged 4-12, the winter day camps will be running at three of our locations from Monday to Friday from 08:00-18:30. Please see the sections below for more details on the programme and daily organisation of activities or click the link to reserve a place for your child.  

FIELD TRIPS  

With two fun filled FIELD TRIPS  to accompany each camp week, there really is something for everyone this Winter break...

>  Space Expo - Museum all about Space

>  Ayers Rock –  Rock Climbing & Australian Adventure

>  Naturalis – National Museum of Natural History

Programme for The Maples (Bomenbuurt, edge of Statenkwartier & Vogelwijk)

NOTE : During the winter break, The Maples specifically covers the holiday days of the European School, the International School, the French School and De Haagsche Schoolvereeniging. The holiday camp location is also open to children from other schools in the surrounding area. Click the link to find out more about The Maples.

MULTI ACTIVITY CAMP - HOLIDAY FIESTA!

The first week of this year's winter camp offers the multi-activity theme with a twist - offering activities tailored around the festive season. The workshop activities of the day are complimented by (outdoor) sports and recreational games of choice.

Friday 22 December - camp day for ESH children
To set the winter holidays of to a great start the younger campers will be making holiday cards decorated with finger-print elves and yarn-wrapped holiday trees whilst the older campers focus on creating starry night art and finger-print holiday lights that will put the location in joyful spirits. Up next campers of all ages get to put their chefs hats on to bake a delicious gingerbread man!

Wednesday 27 December
A craft based day making festive winter creations! The younger campers will be getting creative with popsicle sticks as they make impressive pop-stick snowflakes and Rudolf the red-nose reindeer ornaments. The older campers will also be making their own beautiful ornaments using salt dough, paint and - of course - sparkles! Later in the day, the younger campers make Santa stick puppets while the older campers decorate their very own hot chocolate mug.

Thursday 28 December
On this day we will be enjoying a variety of Winter Wonderland themed activities - starting with the making of our own snow globe and water colour winter tree. Our campers will turn into professional bakers as they make Chocolate Brownies (younger campers) and Groundhog Cupcakes (older campers). For an outdoor adventure, we'll head outside for a crisp winter walk and exciting treasure hunt. During a friendly competition later in the afternoon, the older campers will team up to to find out who can build the most impressive Snow House. 

Friday 29 December: FIELD TRIP: Space Expo
During this field trip, our campers get to find out what it was like for the first man on the moon and learn all about how astronauts live and work in space.
Back at base camp, we'll be making New Years Eve Noise Makers to ring in the new year.

SNOW AND SCIENCE EXPERIMENT CAMP

A frosty breeze blows through the second week of the winter break as campers enjoy a variety of snow themed science experiments! The workshop activities of the day are complimented by (outdoor) sports and recreational games of choice.

Monday 1 January - CLOSED for National Holiday

Tuesday 2 January 
On the first camp day of the year 2018, we endeavor to succeed in our efforts to make the perfect snowflake and snowman. Up next, things really get exciting as the older campers have a friendly competition making paper snowmen puppets out of recycled paper materials and the younger campers do a science experiment making snow dough to mold a snowman with. To warm things up a little we then move on to our group cooking activity as we make delicious vegetable soup for everyone to enjoy.

Wednesday 3 January - FIELD TRIP: Naturalis 
During the visit to Naturalis, our campers will discover the world of poison at the museum of natural history. During a treasure hunt round the museum campers will meet the gila monster, tarantulas and the king cobra!
Back at base camp - we'll be making festive pop-stick flowers and enjoy sports and recreational games of choice.

Thursday 4 January
A day filled with super cool science experiments! For the older campers the day starts with some frozen fun with the creation of magic snowmen. For the younger campers, colour and bouncy bubbles experiments set the day off to an interesting start! The afternoon offers great fun with a ‘rainbow in a jar’ science experiment that all the younger campers will love. In the meantime, the older campers enjoy some of the highlights of the week - the creation of a genuine erupting snow volcano followed by an equally impressive icy cold snow storm experiment.

Friday 5 January FIELD TRIP: Ayers Rock
At Ayers Rock campers aged 8 years old and up will be rock climbing while the younger campers head on an Australian adventure consisting of Digeridoo Painting, Treasure Hunting and Bamboo Creations.
Back at base-camp, we undertake some LEGO construction & challenges and enjoy sports and recreational games of choice.

Monday 8 January
On the very last day it's fun science time as we make rainbow ‘colour crawling’ snowflakes (older campers) and foam based snowy owls (younger campers). Up next, our winter kings and queens get crafty making their very own winter crowns before finishing the holiday camp period in true Zein Holiday Camp fashion with an end of camp party with music and dancing and some delicious pizza made by the campers themselves!

Wednesday 27 December
A craft based day making festive winter creations!
